I apologize for starting a new thread on this. I have seen multiple threads on this but the recommended
solutions haven't worked for me. Using SUM 1.0 SP 11 to upgrade Solution Manager 7.1 SPS 4 to SPS 11 on IBM-AIX and encountered below issues.

 

I've followed steps in note 1828915 - Upgrade stops in MOD_INSTNR_PRE phase and adjusted the ownership of some files from root to <sid>adm but when I go to resume the upgrade, the same message appears. In the logs ../SUM/abap/log/ it complains about the same files

 

The files adjusted were in /usr/sap/S1P/SYS/exe/run which links to /sapmnt/S1P/exe/...

 

Any thoughts?

SUM error duriing NW 7.4(JAVA) upgrade

Using last version of SUM upgrading from NW(java-only)  7.0 to 7.4 on Windows 2012/sql2012.

 

Got this error during shadow instance creation(preprocessing.)

My Client is upgrading from Ecc 6 EHP 3 to EHP 7

1 Project Scope

 

 

Within our ECC environment we are running both Finance and HR (Full MSS & ESS) & Payroll. It is the intent of this project to deliver the following:-

 

  • Technical implementation of ECC from 6.0 EhP3 to EhP7 with no new features being switched on.

 

  • Technical upgrade to Enterprise Portal 7.4. We are currently running version 7.0.1 Portal.

 

  • The Internal Portal (http:) supports all 14,000 “CONFIDENTIAL CLIENT” users of SAP. There are very few GUI users. We also run an External Portal (https:) which supports Schools HR users, limited Schools finance functionality and  a supplier portal which uses SRM for Invoice processing

 

  • Technical upgrade of SAP PI and SLD from version 7.1 to 7.4
  • Technical Upgrade of SAP BW from 7.01 to 7.4

 

  • Upgrade of NWDI to version 7.4 – This will also involve the correction of broken tracks – details of which can be found in the attached document

 

 

  • BPC will require an upgrade to Version 10

 

  • The BIA’s (BWA’s) will need to be replaced with newer hardware technology running at version 7.20 – or a partial migration to HANA should be considered to offer no degradation in BW performance. A company called Centiq are our current suppliers of these appliances

 

  • Given the interest from “CONFIDENTIAL CLIENT” to use Fiori it may be advantageous to implement Netweaver Gateway 2.0 as part of these upgrades (Suppliers should provide an optional cost to include this and/or Fiori and Personas as a technical implementation only (i.e. no functional exploitation)

 

  • On the HR side, we also run Nakisa Org Chart which will also require a new version (fresh implementation on new hardware) and will need to be included in the scope of this work. The client has expressed an interest in implementing the Nakisa Organisation Management/Modelling product

 

  • We also have talent Management, e-Recruitment and a heavily bespoked PDR solution.

 

  • There is also a DPF (Digital Personal Files) solution which uses MAXDB at the backend as the content repository. The Content Server, which has more than 2m documents residing in it, is expected to be upgraded prior to the start of this project (and is therefore out of scope).

 

  • For everything else (in Finance, HR and CRM) we use Documentum for our SAP Documents (via Records Management / Archive Link)

 

  • On the Finance side, the key modules (in addition to the usual) are FI/AR, Funds Management (Public Sector budgeting) and Plant Maintenance (heavily used for Building Services projects). Project Systems, Grants Management and CATS.

 

  • The significant integration is with ‘Tangro’ (www.tangro.de/en.html)

 

  • Consideration needs to be given to the bespoke Interface front-end (Interface Framework) that was developed to provide management and control over the numerous PI and non-PI data feeds into ECC

 

  • ECC Training landscape (refer to earlier diagrams)
    • Master training system 
    • Training clone systems

 

  • Technical changes to ABAP code based on SPAU and SPDD which includes
    • Functional and technical documentation
    • Unit testing and documentation

 

  • The Supplier will support “Confidential Client”:-
    • During the quality assurance (System and Integration testing), regression testing and user acceptance (UAT) testing and issue resolution
    • During testing of BI reports that relate to the ECC applications
    • Post implementation SAP checks

 

  • This project would involve “Confidential Client”  resource doing the testing post Unit Test phase but the supplier performing any SAP based fixes – fixes to integration components outside of the SAP supplied software would be “Confidential Client”’s responsibility to fix, but within a project governance managed by the supplier and covering the full delivery of the project including SIT and UAT

 

  • Defect Resolution (including governance of any dependent systems impact – although it may be preferable for “Confidential Client”

 

  • Supplier hand over to “Confidential Client” support, including knowledge transfer, training and documentation to the “Confidential Client” support teams.

 

  • Implementation of any new roles introduced as a result of the technical upgrade and Testing of Security and Authorisations to support the ECC applications

 

  • Provision of post go-live / stabilisation support

 

Please advise how much time frame and if possible explanation on the same

List of new functionality for ERP EHP6 and EHP7

I am looking for a list of new functionality in both ERP EHP6 and EHP7. I was able to find this list in the SAP Innovation Discovery Web Site, but I will need to manually summarize the list into a table format that can be included in Powerpoint presentation. I wonder if there is already an existing SAP document that presents the list of functionality in table format?

 

Any help is much appreciated.

Change in the calculated xml file

Hi All,

 

I'm preparing for the EHP6 upgrade of our Production system via SUM tool.

 

I aready have the prepared the xml file, and all the components to be used. And with the xml I have now for production, add-on components A,B, and C are on version 1, like when I performed calculation for dev, qas, and regression systems. We didn't upgrade those components until recently.

So add-on components A,B, and C have been upgraded in non-production systems AFTER the EHP6 upgrade.

 

Now, they're planning to upgrade those components in production before the EHP6 upgrade.

 

Considering this, I would like to know if this will have an impact to the xml file I already have prepared.

Even when those components don't have target versions during calculation, since we're not planning on upgrading them before, would this produce an error during Configuration, or Executiion roadmap of SUM?

 

If yes, what do you think would be the best approach?

If I calculate a new xml after upgrade of those components, this means higher level/patches for all the other components, and that will be applied to production. So a catch-up patching will have to be performed on all the non-production to become aligned. (a lot of work )

Hi,

 

In processing upgrade to EHP6, we are facing a problem after phase MAIN_NEWBAS/XPRAS_AIMMRG during Execution phase:

Checks after phase MAIN_NEWBAS/XPRAS_AIMMRG were negative!

Last error code set: Detected 38 errors summarized in 'XPRASUPG.ELG'<br/> Calling '/usr/sap/SID/SYS/exe/run/tp' failed with return code 8, check /usr/sap/SID/SUM/abap/log/SAPup.ECO for details

 

In the logfile

/usr/sap/CH7/SUM/abap/log/SAPR731XPRA90000113.SID

we can see the following:

 

A2 EFINB_TR 097 Transport tool FINBASIS: Client cascade for client "001" started

A2EEFINB_TR 042 RFC error with destination "CH7_001" -> see long text"Upgrade runs - No login""possible"

A2EEFINB_TR 032 No suitable RFC destination could be found"001"

A2 EFINB_TR 098 Transport tool FINBASIS: Client cascade for client "001" finished

 

The RFC destination exists indeed, but the connection isn't possible because of the upgrade (No login possible).

 

Now the upgrade was stopped because this phase needs a working RFC destination. And the RFC Communication can't work because no login is possible due to upgrade.

 

How to solve this dilemma?

Error during ACT_UPG phase.

Hi Team,

 

I  got the below error during the ACT_UPG phase of Preprocessing. After we selected option of accept no severe error however the phase has

crossed. I checked the table is active but when i tried to activate again this table it is showing the similar error.

Currenlty the upgrade running and no issues are encountered after that. Can you suggest any note that can be applied after the upgrade to resolve the issue or the below error can be ignored. Let me know if more details is required.

Side Effect Report for Enhancement Package

Greetings.

 

I was asked to install EhP4 (but planning to install EhP5) for our ERP (ABAP only) 6.0. Our system is currently in SPS13 (yes, quite old, I know, sorry).

 

Mopz (EhP1) is automatically calculated the download queue and will perform the following tasks:

SAP ERP 6.0 will be upgraded to SPS19

Netweaver 7.0 will be upgraded to EHP2 FOR SAP NETWEAVER 7.0

EhP5 will be installed, up to SPS 04.

 

Using Mopz or SAP Service Marketplace I can generate a Side Effect Report for SPS13 -> SPS19, but I can't find how to request or generate a this report for the whole upgrade process.

 

Is there a way to request this Side Effect Report ?

I have task to disable pa30 , pa20 for display data for some pernrs for infotype 267.

the senario as below :

1- user open PA30 and add pernr number

2- add infotype 267

3- when click preview , system check logged user allow to view this perne or not , if no display error message and prevent user from seeing pernr data

 

 

how can I do this ?

 

after this task I  need to make enhancment to payroll run screen pc00_m99_calc to allow to only user to run the assigned pernr .

mainimp_proc value for MAIN_NEWBAS/TABIM_UPG

Hi All,

 

I'm currently upgrading our system to EHP6, and at the moment SUM is paused at 'Preparation for Downtime' page (I haven't continued it yet).

We're thinking of how to reduce the downtime duration. Based on previous system's upgrade logs, this MAIN_NEWBAS/TABIM_UPG has the longest runtime among all the downtime activities.

 

I need to seek your advise on how I can reduce the runtime for MAIN_NEWBAS/TABIM_UPG.

Based on some readings, from blogs, and other discussions, they say that 'mainimp_proc' parameter can be increased up to 4 or 6 to speedup the said step, and eventually the overall downtime duration.

 

It is mentioned that TABIMUPG.TPP can be found in <dir upg>\abap\bin, and from there I can change mainimp_proc value.

My question is does this file only being created once the MAIN_NEWBAS/TABIM_UPG starts? Because at the moment, I can't see it in the current system's upgrade directory <path to upgrade dir>/abap/bin. If yes, then from there, how should I change the value for mainimp_proc properly? So it will be adapted by the current processing step.

 

Appreciate your immediate response, as I cannot continue to the next step until I'm sure of what to do for MAIN_NEWBAS/TABIM_UPG,

How to proceed ERP 6.0 EHP3 Dual stack to EHP7 Upgrade

Hello Champs,

 

There is plan of our existing ERP 6.0 system upgrade to EHP7, how we can proceed the same. Can anyone let me know the process like from where to where i have to go.

 

Current System SP level- ERP 6.0 EHP3 With latest SPS , Dual stack  & Configured with Solman 7.1 SPS10

Target System - ERP 6.0 EHP7 Single or Dual stack

 

I have performed multiple EHP upgrades of various component with different os/db combo. But the thing is we cannot performed EHP7 upgrade of dual stack system, that's why i am here to discuss with all of you.

 

I have 2 scenario in my mind to achieve the goal.

 

1- First Upgrade the ECC dual stack till ehp6, then performed Split of the ECC system (ABAP & JAVA) , and then go to separately EHP7 upgrade.

2- First split the system at current level itself (ERP 6.0 EHP3), then go for EHP7 separately for both stack upgrade.

 

Which one would be better for us in terms of Fast process/ Safety/ Less effort and last one not the least Less solman MOPZ activities while doing split and separate upgrade of both stack ??

Dear expert, i have the following question about enhancement package:

 

-     is there any standard SAP tool that monitoring  the transaction most used by the users on my system,  is able to suggest wich Business function to activate of the  EHP ?  Where is it  available ?

-     SPAU/SPDD has to be executed when the EHP has been installed or when the Business Function has been activated ?

-       at end i like to know if there are anhancement package available on SAP-PI system and how can I verify on my SAP-PI system the last EHP installed

ERP 6.0 EHP7 Update hung in phase MAIN_SHDRUN/RUN_INDC

Hi All,

 

We are updating our ERP landscape from ERP 6.0 EHP 4 SPS 13 to ERP 6.0 EHP 7 SPS 4.  We are running on AIX/Oracle and using SUM10SP09_5-20006540.SAR.  The update has been stuck in phase MAIN_SHDRUN/RUN_INDC_UPG for 10 hours.  On the other 4 upgrades we have completed this phase ran for less than 2 minutes.  I have searched SAP Notes, SCN and Google and did not find any relevant information (other posts for this phase were for different platforms).  The only log in the SUM directory that is being updated is INDEXCHK.LOG, and it only indicates that the background job is still running.  The background job log does not provide any information.  There is also no information in ST22 and SM21.

 

Please advise on how to resolve this issue.

EHP6 - Severe error(s) occurred in phase PREP_INPUT/KX_CPYORG!

Hi All,

We are at the "extraction" stage of our EHP6 upgrade for pre-prod system, this serves as rehearsal for the execution of the same upgrade in production system.

 

However, SUM is stopped due to below error.

SUM - EXTRACTION phase stops at PREP_INPUT/KX_CPYORG, showing the error message below:

 

Severe error occurred in phase PREP_INPUT/KX_CPYORG!

Last error code set is: Failed to copy 1 files, check 'KX_CPYORG.LOG' for details

 

And checking from log, it shows "4EETQ399 Source file 'exe_syb.lst' missing!". This file doesn't exist anywhere in the system. Also, checking from logs of previous EHP6 upgrade in our DEV and QAS systems, this file doesn't exist. And instead of "exe_syb.lst", what has been copied from previous upgrades is 'exe_db6.lst'. We are at HP-UX and DB6.

Dialogue instance not starting up after performing stack upgrade.

Dear Experts,

 

We have performed stack upgrade on ERP 6.0 EHP5 system. In configuration phase we have not got the option to update dialog instances.

 

We proceeded without that option and completed the upgrade successfully but the dialog instance is not getting started.

 

Kernel level got upgraded in all instance with the same level. Below  is the work process log content of dialog instance.

As per SUM guide we need to uninstall the dialog instances before downtime and re-install the dialog instances after upgrade but we didn't uninstalled dialog instances before downtime.

 

Kindly let me know if there is any other process start up the dialog instance with out going for re-installing it.

 

Also suggest on re-installing the dialog instance since we didn't uninstalled dialog instances before downtime.

EHP5 Installation: Error in Phase PREP_INPUT/KX_CPYORG

I have a problem with the EHPI (latest version). In Phase "PREP_INPUT/KX_CPYORG"  i get the following error:

The problem here is its an unicode System - ever was! and there is no path D:\usr\sap\BIL\SYS\exe\ nuc \NTAMD64 but a D:\usr\sap\BIL\SYS\exe\ uc \NTAMD64

 

The Systems' profile parameter OS_UNICODE says: "uc". DIR_CT_RUN says "D:\usr\sap\BIL\SYS\exe\uc\NTAMD64"

 

So why does the EHPI think this is a Non-Unicode system?

 

Any ideas?

Dear experts,

 

 

Our package number is SAPK-61705INEAPS (see below), with release status is 'R':

We found a new support package, but this is in 'L' status. What does this status mean? Maybe "locked" ?


Can we use this package or we should wait for 'R' status?


If yes, when will the new package status arrive?
